Abstract

The modern educational paradigm demands digitized, transparent, and scalable academic assessment workflows. The Online Examination and Result Management System is a secure, role-based web platform designed for Nepalese colleges and universities. Developed using Laravel for RESTful API orchestration and Next.js for high-performance responsive interfaces, the system automates candidate registration, randomized question paper generation, automated MCQ grading, numerical submission tracking, and real-time result analytics with SMS/Email notifications.

System Architecture & Database Design:

  • Entity Relationship Model: 18 normalized tables adhering to 3NF.
  • Security & Integrity: RBAC permissions, Bcrypt password hashing, session tokens, and strict audit logs.
  • Performance: Redis caching for question papers and active examination sessions.

Conclusion & Future Scope:

The system successfully reduces exam administration overhead by 70% and completely eliminates manual result compilation delays. Future enhancements include AI-driven proctoring via webcams and biometric identity verification.
